4 Fins Don’t Hold Back on Their Remix of “Coup De Grace”

This is the quartet’s third song together.

A little over three months since their last collaboration , 4 Fins—a collective composed of MiniCoop, Joey Maker, Johniepee and Clue—are back with another, deciding this time to remix 360’s “Coup De Grâce”.

Australia’s answer to Slaughterhouse put their pens to work here, and what results is arguably the group’s most ambitious song lyrically to date. Reflecting on their efforts, the Melbourne and Sydney MC’s offered what their favourite lyrics from the song were:

MiniCoop: Either Johniepee’s “Arya Stark with the bars in the dark, man, you’ve got no name—who?” or my “All these fuckin’ lost boys thinkin’ that they fly, then off the roof they go/They Rufio for tryna catch a Hook—you better run, Jack!”.

Clue: My best lyric I think was a toss up between the final “ain’t no coup de Grace, more like Clue da star” and “actually we stack it up in the club, we making sandwiches”. The later I think will go over a lot of heads.

Johniepee: My favourite part is literally “The bigger version of Jermaine from the conchords” {laughs}.

Joey Maker: Hard to pick just one. I like Johnie’s “Arya Stark with the bars in the dark, man, you’ve got no name—who?” line. Coop’s got a great line in “Fan or one night stand, you don’t have to know me to fuck with me!”, and Clue’s line that stays with me is “The truth is up—ain’t no coup de grace, more like Clue da Star”.

Then, on the subject of a “coup de grace” (which loosely translates from French to ‘finishing blow’), the four shared their opinions on the best finishing blow/lyrical fatality in music’s history:

MiniCoop: It’s gotta be something of Eminem’s from his beefs with Benzino and Everlast, or Drake’s “Back to Back” lyric, “Is that a world tour or your girl’s tour? […] This ain’t what she meant when she told you to open up more”.

Clue: I’m not sure if it counts as the best finishing blow of all time, but Smizzy had a line that I always felt just won rap, which was “Musically I’m a fucking maxibon”, because how do you top that?

Johniepee: Eminem’s verse from the Shady 2.0 Cypher.

Joey Maker: In terms of all time, I have to go back to Eminem dismantling Benzino. There’s not one track that stands out, rather the overall body of work he put out of him relentlessly going in. Also, the flows on “The Sauce” and “Nail In The Coffin” are ridiculous.
